Believe it or not but Devon has an abundance of free activities available to you and your family. For active families you will enjoy the varied scenery and walks/hikes/dog walks available to you. You can trek along Devon’s extensive coastal path, follow abandoned railway tracks along the Avon Valley and explore woods.

For R&R you can unwind on the many beaches located along the Devon coastline. If you are willing to walk to the beach then you can find yourselves being the only ones on it for complete peace and quiet.

All year round Devon plays host to multiple festivals (Christmas, music, food & drink etc), markets, extravaganzas, fireworks or red arrow displays and music performances all of which are free to attend.   2. Buy National Trust Membership. If you buy a ticket for £72.50 for the family which covers 2 adults and any number of children under 18yrs old. You can use your membership anywhere in the country for an entire year. It can be used to get you free entry into over 300 historic houses, gardens and countryside and coastline car parking – this can cost a lot for non-members. You can also get a discount if you book this member ship online by direct debit too.
  3. Buy tickets that cover multiple attractions. Some attractions have teamed up together to offer discounted tickets to cover entrance for all the attractions. For example, Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts offer tickets that cover entrance off into both places for a 20% discount and fast track queuing. This is a good saving if your family enjoy animals.
  4. Book your accommodation last minute. This can be stressful but if you aren’t fussy about where you end up you can a big saving on accommodation in peak season. However, if you are happy to travel to Devon in the shoulder season’s you will make a saving anyway. May, June and September are great shoulder season months in Devon.
